“Reshaping Buffalo and the Rust Belt Narrative” with Visit Buffalo Niagara’s Brian Hayden

Visit Buffalo Niagara Communications Manager Brian Hayden to Visit Erie

Brian Hayden, Communications Manager, Visit Buffalo Niagara

There’s been a buzz surrounding Buffalo and its revitalization, and Brian Hayden knows as well as anyone that it’s more than just noise.

As Visit Buffalo Niagara’s Communications Manager, he helps promote Buffalo’s story; the story of a once-declining rustbelt city that is now making a major comeback.

Hayden will discuss the communications and marketing strategies that Visit Buffalo Niagara (VBN) has used to help change the narrative surrounding Buffalo when he visits Erie next month for a special luncheon presentation.

His presentation, “Reshaping Buffalo and the Rust Belt Narrative,” takes place Thursday, May 11, at the Brewerie at Union Station. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. with his talk to follow at noon. His visit is co-sponsored by the Northwestern Pennsylvania Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and VisitErie.

In his day-to-day duties, Hayden is responsible for promoting Buffalo Niagara tourism by serving as VBN’s point person for media relations, writing for VBN’s blog and writer for their visitor guide and website. He also helps plan out their social media, assists with advertising copy and sales collateral and brings in nearly three dozen travel writers annually to visit Buffalo on press trips.

Prior to joining VBN, the proud native Buffalonian was a reporter with the Daily Courier-Observer and Watertown Daily Times newspapers in St. Lawrence County, as well as Clarkson University’s social media manager and news writer.

Cost to attend the event, which includes lunch, is $20 for PRSA members and $30 each for non-members. Attendees can register for the presentation by filling out this form.

The Northwestern Pennsylvania Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) is the professional organization that brings together public relations, communications and marketing practitioners throughout Erie, PA.
