“What the Hell is Going On?” with Political Consultant John Brabender

Renowned Political Consultant John Brabender to Visit Erie

The Associated Press has described him as “a well-dressed media consultant with the political manners of a pit bull,” and the Daily Beast has proclaimed “If he has an agenda, it’s less ideological than a visceral distaste for bad political ads.”

John Brabender, one of the nation’s most renowned political consultants, will present “What The Hell is Going On?” A National TV Analyst and Political Media Consultant Offers His Thoughts on Thursday, April 6 at the Erie Club. His talk is sponsored by the Northwestern Pennsylvania Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and begins at 4:30 p.m.

Brabender is Chief Creative Officer and managing partner of BrabenderCox, one of the nation’s premiere political and public affairs media firms. Brabender has provided his unique brand of creative political advertising to more than 100 Republican candidates, Fortune 500 Companies, Professional Sports Franchises, and national organizations.

During his presentation, Brabender will discuss what really goes on during a big-time political campaign and the communication challenges that arise while on the campaign trail.  Cost to attend the presentation, which includes light refreshments, hors d’oeuvres, and a cash bar, is $30 for PRSA members or students and $35 for non-members. Some of Brabender’s past and present clients include, Vice-President Mike Pence, Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also has a wide range of professional sports and entertainment clients, including Mountaineer Gaming Resort and progressive rock band YES.

Brabender is a frequent guest on national news programs and regularly appears on CNN, MSNBC Hardball, Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher, NPR’s Talk of the Nation, the NBC Nightly News, and NBC’s Today show. His attention-getting, breakthrough creative style has also been profiled in a variety of national publications, including Atlantic Monthly, Campaigns and Elections, and National Review.

Brabender has earned a reputation for his creative talent, and has received many prominent creative awards, winning an incredible 103 Pollie Awards as well as the Academy Award for political advertising and Public Affairs.

He is also a former adjunct faculty member of the Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism at West Virginia University, where he taught courses in advertising and media. Brabender earned a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from Gannon University and an MBA from Cleveland State University.
